Bon Iver’s “Calgary”

by Limbic on November 11, 2011

One of my absolute fave albums of 2011 has been Bon Iver’s “Bon Iver”.

Yesterday I saw the music video to Calgary, and thought it worth sharing.

The video features the beautifully named (and looking) model Raina Hein. It was filmed in Fall Creek, Wisconsin, the video was written by Bon Iver mastermind Justin Vernon and directed by Andre Durand and Dan Huiting.

Ride the pony

by Limbic on June 22, 2011

A young colleague was playing this video this in the office (we have rotating DJ policy). Check out the hilarity of these ravers having it large. I particularly loved the “Ride the pony” pair at 02:28 followed by self-worshipping Mr Blue Suit. You need to play the video to see what I mean

Just before I left for London K and I watched “God Grew Tired Of Us” after finding it on a DVD given to me by a colleague (a film buff).

It follows the fortunes of a group of Sundanese “Lost Boys” as they are resettled from a refugee camp where they live with their fellow Lost Boys to the USA.

I have to say it was one of the most beautiful films I have seen in some time. Heartbreaking and heart-warming, if you can see it.

From BBC NEWS | UK | Scotland | Music tastes link to personality:

Musical tastes and personality type are closely related, according to a study of more than 36,000 people from around the world.

The research, which was carried out by Professor Adrian North of Heriot-Watt University, is said to be the largest such study ever undertaken.

It suggested classical music fans were shy, while heavy metal aficionados were gentle and at ease with themselves.

Professor North described the research as “significant” and “surprising”.
