What makes a real man? The Mafia help..

by Limbic on August 20, 2003

Trait #1: A real man is strong
A real man doesn’t cry, doesn’t moan, doesn’t complain, doesn’t get sick, and doesn’t need to go to the doctor every time he sneezes. A real man makes decisions and lives with the consequences. A real man accepts responsibility for his actions and his words. A real man is firm. If life is a bitch, a real man will slap her and move on…A real man is macho; a real man is tough; a real man doesn’t show emotions. A real man is the backbone of his family and doesn’t have time to be weak. If spiders scare you, you’ll never be a real man.

Trait #2: A real man is focused
A real man knows the difference between what’s important and what isn’t. A real man doesn’t waste time on stupidities that don’t bring him any profit…. real man focuses on power, money and family. He doesn’t focus on sex. Sex comes as a result of having power, money and a wife (and if she doesn’t satisfy you, there are plenty of other women who will, especially when you are powerful and rich).

Trait #3: A real man knows the importance of family
A real man will keep his family strong and pass on his ancestors’ history and traditions…A real man must also remember his other Family, his organization…I protect them both with all my might. If you have a Family, don’t forget where your loyalties lie and who has your back when you need it.

Trait #4: A real man doesn’t gossip
A real man keeps his mouth shut. He shelters information and rations his words. A real man does not reveal more than he has to, and doesn’t engage in girlie talk about others. A real man doesn’t discuss things he doesn’t know about, or people he has never met.

Trait #5: A real man’s word is his bond
When a real man makes a promise, he keeps it. If he can’t keep a promise, he doesn’t give his word. A real man would rather die than break his word. A real man knows that his words are as powerful as his actions and must be taken at face value. That is why he rations them (see above).

Trait #6: A real man strives to be a role model
A real man respects himself and others at all times, unless, of course, he has been disrespected. A real man sets an example for his disciples and especially his children.

Trait #7: A real man makes his own fortune
A real man doesn’t settle for handouts or charity when it comes to his personal fortune. A real man isn’t satisfied with papa’s money. He spits on Lady Luck and decides his own destiny. A real man who inherits the goods from his forefathers takes his inheritance and turns it into 10 times what it was.

Trait #8: A real man doesn’t look like a woman
A real man doesn’t have piercings and long hair, and he doesn’t shave his chest. Manicures, however, are acceptable. Massages from female attendants are also tolerated. A real man knows that, outside of his barber, all his personal hygiene needs must be taken care of by a woman.

A real man has at least three suits (with a mandatory pinstriped one) that cost more than a roomful of escorts. A real man wears a suit at least three times a week. Any man who doesn’t know how to tie a tie should hand in his testicoli immediately. And learn how to order a bottle; I’m sick of seeing babbos ordering Colt 45 in fine establishments.

…a real man keeps it simple. If you know big words, use them rarely and appropriately, at least in front of morons who think they’re smarter than you. Lesson over.

Watch your backs and keep your noses clean.

You godda love doze goodfellas!

What women want [Salon Premium]

by Limbic on August 15, 2003

Some interesting bits in this article depsite it being ruined by giving voice to Blank Slaters who still, despite overwhelming evidence, continue to claim that gender roles and sexual orientations are wholly elective and culturally programmed.

“As [a study recently released from Northwestern University] shows, women may be naturally aroused by both sexes, and what turns them on may have little to do with their sexual orientation.

For the study, more than 90 gay and straight men, women and male-to-female transsexuals were shown erotic film scenes with a probe attached to their genitals to indicate when they were aroused. Both the men and the transsexuals were only aroused by scenes that featured members of their preferred sex, while women were aroused by all the films — whether they featured lesbian scenes, gay male scenes or mixed-sexes scenes.

The results, which will be published in an upcoming issue of the journal Psychological Science, seem almost counterintuitive. Men have eagerly embodied their reputation as the sexually enthusiastic half of the population, and yet this study seems to suggest that women, deep down, are really thirsting for more. But, according to one of the study’s coauthors, Northwestern psychology department chairman J. Michael Bailey, the study really just reinforces what we already know: Men are sexually simple, and women are not. “I think it really shows us how much we don’t know about women more than it shows us what we do know,” he says.

For one, he says, there appears to be a significant disconnect between what sexually and mentally arouses a woman. Many of the women in the study did not even recognize they were being aroused by some of the tapes, which leads Bailey to believe that women are somehow disconnected from their genitals — and are perhaps fully aroused more by circumstance, such as an emotional bond or a sexy scenario, as something that engages their brains and emotions. When men get an erection, Bailey says, “it makes men motivated to have sex with whatever’s causing the genital arousal. I don’t think women have the same connection.”

…In fact, a woman may get fully aroused in the opposite way that a man does, Diamond says. She likens arousal to a pathway: For most men, their interests start with a sexual attraction, and then lead to an emotional attachment. But for women, she said, the interest can go through the pathway in the opposite direction, with a deep emotional bond spawning a sudden sexual interest.

…”People can experience strong sexual attractions that are totally unusual to the rest of their experience,” Diamond says. “They’re situational. In one setting and one circumstance, it may seem possible.” MORE

Distributed Protests [Kuro5hin]

by Limbic on August 15, 2003

“When I went to the June 23rd protest against Bush and his abuse of the office of President, I held up a provocative sign, “Why did Bush block the investigation of the 9/11 attacks?” The protest was large and loud – as it should be. A few thousand people showed up, but many of them could not find a place to stand in the pens that were set aside for the protest.

After the protest, I walked to Bryant park – with my sign – and noticed that I got a lot more attention as a “lone-protestor”. People came up to me and asked questions. Everyone in sight plainly read my sign, and many people asked me to turn it – so they could get a better view.

It dawned on me that another way to protest is for everyone to simply carry a sign on the street, on a designated day. That way more people will see the message. Imagine how powerful it would be that when you went to work, or to the shops, saw a person carrying a sign on every block, no matter where you looked and as far as you went.

For those of you familiar with networking, it’s analogous a D-DOS versus a DOS attack… provably a more powerful method, even with comparable bandwidth. An excellent and pertinent article on the decentralized coordination of large groups can be found here.”

Good, long read. Print it out.

“On the surface, beehives and ant nests seem to be model societies, with each individual striving for the common good. But maintaining this social order sometimes calls for brutal tactics….Murder, torture and imprisonment – these are the standard tools of repressive regimes. But if you imagine that human societies have a monopoly on such tactics, think again. Social insects perfected the police state long before people got in on the act.” MORE

I am in the Sunday Times…

by Limbic on August 15, 2003

“Jonathan Davis, 30, who lives in Notting Hill, west London, joined friendster a month ago and already has 33 new friends, 20 of them based in Britain.

He said: ìPeople often have their ex-partners in their networks, as friendster is quite addictive and people become very hungry for new friends. You find that there are people who have social capital. Either they have enormous numbers of friends or itís a guy who probably works with models and so has a whole spread of beautiful girls writing testimonials about him.î MORE
