Race crime, media bias and trial by ordeal in the media age

by limbic on July 24, 2002

So the Lawrence suspects (need we bother with their names?) have been convicted of a racially aggravated offence.

Quel surpise.

Setting aside whether or not these two actually were involved in the killing of Stephen Lawrence, trial by media has firmly established them as guilty of killing Stephen Lawrence. This is a considerable handicap to have to deal with when defending a racially aggravated charge.

I think it is impossible that these men got a fair trial in this case.

The jury, confronted with just about the most famous racists in the country, as asked to judge whether or not these men shouted the word “nigger” and threw a soft drink can at an off duty black policeman.

They admitted throwing the soft drink, but denied shouting the word “nigger” - a core component of the “racially aggravated” part of the charge.

Unsurprisingly this jury chose to believe the policeman and not these notorious villains.

There is little doubt in my mind these men have been persecuted in direct violation of the laws of the land and this trial has been heavily prejudiced against them by virtue of their notoriety.

This is very unfortunate. As Hunter S Thompson observed, “even a werewolf deserves a fair trial”.

These men have never been found guilty of anything (before now) yet we as a society has decided to persecute them. So desperate are we to punish them that laws are being changed to adapt to what evidence we have.

Even the mostly inviolable of legal principles, namely - No law, no crime - is being undone to allow law made today to apply to actions carried out yesterday.

The government abuses the manufactured hysteria surrounding cause celebres like the Stephen Lawrence murder (and the subsequent trial, inquest and ongoing media clichÈ) to attack civil liberties and justify empowering the increasingly unmanageable, power voracious and unaccountable race lobby.

Keep in mind good citizens of London that you have being hearing about Stephen Lawrence for over 10 years now. 10 years. Do you realise how many other victims of racial violence there have been since then? Many, the vast majority being white.

This list was posted to a UK newsgroup this week. It look like it has been prepared by a racist group somewhere, but my check on the names show that these incidents are real.

This lists 34 cases, some of them just inter-racial killings, but many of them are almost certainly race crimes as bad if not worse (can there worse than a gang killing) than Stephen Lawrence.

None of this is really news to anyone. What does perplex many people is how the media get away with it and, to certain degree, what their motives are. The lid is off the race situation in London. People are not fooled, just irritated by the press bias and being accused of being racist all the while being subjected to unprecedented levels of criminal victimisation and violence from the very minorities who are claiming special favours and victim status.

How do we fix this mess?

Easy. The facts need not frighten anyone or make any group feel guilty. Ethnic Minorities are heavily victimised by racism. This is not because of whites as a group are any more racist than any other, but because of the mere fact that whites are the majority. Minority status alone makes groups extremely vulnerable ( to illustrate, 25% of non-whites are the victims of a racial incidents, the figure for whites is less than 1% ). To understand why this is, see this Usenet post - http://tinyurl.com/tiy .

If we had some honesty in the media, we could get beyond debtor and creditor groups and finally come to see that people are remarkably similar (equal) in both wrong and rightdoing. With this established we need not have a constant finger pointing and the politicisation of race which inevitably leads to Ethnic Nationalism, Identity Politics and ultimately undermines democracy itself.
